siefer
Ok,So i installed the 10.5.1 kalyway image perfectly on a usb hard drive i recieved yesterday(200gb). It told me that the install was succesful, however when i try to boot it it gives me a flashing _ thing and just stays there. Partition Table was as follows. 50gb - MSDOS(FAT) 150gb - HFS+ I aslo used MBR. Computer specs. Dell XPS Gen 4. One core, Pentium 4 Prescott. nVidia 6800 card - Applied the NATIT patch from the kalyway dvd. Used the Vanilla Kernel. Used the efi_MBR patch BIOS set to boot 1. CD 2. USB 3. Internal HD At the end of the install it said "Installation Successful" with a big checkmark, and said reboot in 30 secs. If i missed any information you need post back Thanks for any help. siefer
ok. Here are my results. It turned out that i needed to name it volume one word, i installed efi mbr and vanila along w/ the video drivers for my video card(6800 nVidia. I installed the natit from the kalyway disc.) It now gets passes the flashing _ screen and goes into the darwin bootloader, but then after that it shorlty restarts the comuter. Any suggestions? Software Updater
Are there any messages that you see before it shows up? Try booting in safe mode (-x). Sometimes booting in safe mode can allow you to get into Leopard to at least look at the console and look for any determinable features. Best of luck. -Software Updater Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/98935-leopard-1051-usb-installation/#findComment-706693 Share on other sites
Times_Infinity
Yeah. try booting in safe mode. Usually a hard reset like that means that the hardware isnt compatible with the kernel. So. you can try a different kernel or try a different install.
