help need with Camcorder firewire in Leopard 10.5.2

hi to all,

I'm completely frustrated with this. I have Panasonic PV-GS150 Camcorder and it use firewire, I'm running Leopard 10.5.2 with all the new update. my problem is I can not get the system to detect my Camcorder. Any one can help me out with this...

Are you 100% the camcorder settings are set for firewire transfer.

I had a Sony camcorder that drove me crazy until in the menu settings of the camera I noticed that a "USB streaming" mode was on. (For USB transfer.) Turned that off and camera was detected through firewire and started working flawlessly.

there is no set for UBS or Firewire from the camcorder! my Leopard it does not detect my Camcorder

connect the camera then try this

in terminal

kextload -t /System/Library/Extensions/IOFireWireAVC.kext that worked for me. =]

thanks I did run the line and it say "kextload: /System/Library/Extensions/IOFireWireAVC.kext loaded successfully"

but still there is no Firewire connection.

Sure it's enabled in BIOS?

Any info in logs?

Check

sudo dmesg

for any possible info.

just installed FCP istallation went fine but now the application does not start it just stoipsin the middel saying UNABLE TO LOCATE FOLLOWING EXTERNAL DEVICES: APPLEFIREWIRE NTSC (1024*756)

I dont have a onboard firewire port but have a firewire card called ADS PYRO 1394DV Cardbus drivers available for this model does not workjon leopard itrs for classic enviorment

so i have instsalled latestdrivers and in the system profiler it does show in firewire MAXIMUM SPEED 400 MB/SEC. I think it has take the drivers thoiught there are no other details besides this

i dont know wot could be the problem can any think of any thing

i really need to get this working

any any 1 help me please?

Hi guys,

I stumbled into this topic having the same problem as the topicstarter. The solution (sudo kextload -t /System/Library/Extensions/IOFireWireAVC.kext) works for me, but after a reboot i have to use this command again at the terminal before I can capture video.

Does anyone know how to make sure this kext auto loads at boot time? i've read that ' normal' kexts only load with the corresponding devices connected, but all kexts beginning with IO should normally always load...

Still no camera working, I rebooted, Didnt work had to redo the above command like Bram1982 said, however this has never worked and I know my camera and cable are good, works fine on my mac mini.
