Slinger2g
Id love to hear more about the sound.. what did you use? Can you share your kexts? Also.. How did you got rid of the video artifacts? Did you use Efi strings for sound and video? If you did, could you share them with us? Thanks in advance! My motherboard has ALC888 (6.1) High Definition Audio. It has the 1/8 Jack for external speaker's. It also has a front panel audio harness on the board itself. My case has a harness for AC'97,AZALIA and HDA. I have it plugged to the HDA harness, so audio isn't an issue whatsoever. If I plug it to AZALIA, I can use AZALIA audio kext.(stock kext) If I use HDA, I can use HDA kext.(stock kext) AC'97 work's as well, which isn't as good of sound! It's effing weird, and it sound's like bullsh*t, but that's how it work's over here. I built the same exact computer with Leopard on it for a friend. At the time the BIOS version was older so his audio I had to patch. When I built my box, the board came with the updated BIOS. I was planning on patching audio, which was going to be the only patch, but after install the Welcome screen to Registration was screaming audio at me.... I actually jumped back!!!hahaha ~Sling P.S. Look at my kext load screeny for HDA. coolied
Also as that happen's, might as well take a look at building a string for an audio initializer to play the Apple Chime!!!! ~Sling AFAIK, there's no way to do this, unless you figure out a way to emulate it. From my understanding, the Apple bootup chime is a hardcoded part of the Mac boot ROM, and not a part of the OS. It occurs before the bootloader is even invoked, that's why it plays as soon as the Mac is powered up. Even if you could figure out a way to make it play, there's no way you could make it play as soon as the power button was pressed. Would be cool if they'd put a function in modern BIOSes letting you play a .WAV file during POST.
