No disks

Hello,

 

I recently got Leo4All (great iso, the first one that works with my IDE DVD drive!) but I have a problem with it:

I can't see any disks.

Core 2 Quad Q6600

more.. (I replaced the 8500GT with the 8800GT a week ago)

is it a ide harddrive?

 

if it is you have to set the jumper on you harddrive to master (do not set it to cable select)

Nope, I got 2 HDs, both SATA, only my DVD is IDE(PATA).

(I got AHCI on)

PLease go to bios and change sata configuraton to AHCI save and rreboot .. it will show..

It is all on AHCI.. (I cannot change it back because I flashed it)

Well I don't know what ports you have these connected to, but on with the old AHCI kext's only 2 drives would work and they both had to be on the same controller. So with 4, 2 ports per controller. Try moving them to the other set of ports and try again. If this fails wait for my next update, it includes the new AHCI kexts so more than 2 devices work.

Even if it was wrong, there should at least one disk show up..??

I will look at the SATA ports tomorrow, but I don't think there is anything wrong.

Do you have any idea of the date when you will release the update?

You say that can't be wrong, but don't know which ports they are connected to? As I said only 2 ports will work in AHCI mode. If you can't turn it off just try moving one of them to the other set of ports. See if if shows up in disk utility after. I am working on the update, but it time consuming and this will be my last one. I want to make sure I get everything I want in it this time, and I need everything I can test working properly before I will release it.

Sander122: open the diskutility program (not sure if thats what its called in english) and check to c if your osx partition is active. Otherwise: try a different distro (like Kalyway's 10.5.1).

As you can see there are no disks at all, so I can't install.

 

 

Other releases like kalyway don't have the Marvell driver I need (would be great if kalyway, uphuck etc. will add it to their next releases).

@Sander122: sorry, guess I hasted my reply a bit there. How did you prepare your drive/partition 2 b able 2 install osx86 correctly (did u do it in windows & dos, or otherwise)?

I didn't install OSX yet, the screenshot is the OSX installation disk

No, I know, my question is how did u prepare your osx partition (as in did u shrink a certain hd partition and keep some unreserved space 15GB+ left (in windows), after which u activated that leftover unreserved space in DOS (method which never failed me be4))?

I did it multiple ways, I made HSF+ partition, a DOS partition etc.

But as far as I know there should always be disks.

(Oh: and I checked the SATA ports, I only got 2 -.- (MSI OEM Boards :R) and they are both used by the HDs, ICH9. If you want some pictures I can post them here)

The problem must surely be with the fact that dvd hasn't the appropriate drivers for your sata HDs. Try to find your specific drivers and look at the guide : http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=97218

What is your device ID that needs to be in AppleVIAATA? I will be sure to include it if thats all it is.
