homers Posted March 30, 2008 Share Posted March 30, 2008 Hi My Leopard hard drive messed up becuase of my attempts at Dual booting. I have the Kalyway Leopard 10.5.1 install DVD. I have my main hard drive with Vista and want to install Leopard onto my secondary drive. I was wondering whether it should be MBR or GUID. Also, how do I make sure I have all that Vanilla Kernel pc_efi things I have been reading about that make the computer almost like a real mac? homers Posted March 30, 2008 Author Share Posted March 30, 2008 Hi I tried installing with Vanilla using GUID and not selecting SSE2 but the installation fails. It happens if I select SSE2 aswell. Why is this? However in the software section of About This Mac it says Kernel Version: Darwin 9.1.0 should that not say Vanilla? Also will this have that PCI_EFI thing I keep reading about? Gujal Posted March 31, 2008 Share Posted March 31, 2008 Kalyway installs PCEFI by default AFAIK kernel wouldnt say Vanilla. Why would Apple call their kernel "Vanilla". It is what the community refers to the original kernel. homers Posted March 31, 2008 Author Share Posted March 31, 2008 I tried this in order to dual boot http://wiki.osx86project.org/wiki/index.php/Vista_Dual_Boot it works but when I select OS X I get a blinking cursor. Skyper Posted March 31, 2008 Share Posted March 31, 2008 Boot your OS X DVD into -s mode and type the following when everything finishes loading. fdisk -e /dev/rdisk0 flag 1 update write quit reboot Remember that 0 is your Hard-drive number, 1 is your partition number. Make sure you modify these numbers as per your hardware configuration. Good Luck. It is like there is not bootloader there and the DVD acts as a substitute.
