No Audio - How do I find out what my audio card/chip is?

so I've got Kallaway running smoothly except for running updates and sound. I tried a few different installs and never got the sound to work. I didn't get an external sound card, so I have no idea what mine is. is there any way to tell what came with the motherboard? I'm running an ECS Elitegroup 945GCT-M motherboard. no sound is not the worst thing that can happen with this (I actually have another real mac at work that I use) but it would be nice! thanks for any suggestions.

Ummm... plug the speakers in?

What do you mean "it shows the drivers"?

What does your Sound panel in syspref show as output devices, anything?

yeah, that's what I meant by "shows drivers"...before, there was no output or input options, itunes didn't play anything, and no audio what so ever. now, it's showing output and input options, itunes will play songs, but there's no sound coming out. and yes, my speakers are plugged in. I'm not that newb...

lol! Sorry bro, I couldn't resist. Just joking around with ya :)

Other than trying different outputs (which by now you've prob already done more than once), I've not got much of a clue.

Maybe there are some settings in the BIOS that you could mess around with for the audio? /shrug
