Jayson44
so I've got Kallaway running smoothly except for running updates and sound. I tried a few different installs and never got the sound to work. I didn't get an external sound card, so I have no idea what mine is. is there any way to tell what came with the motherboard? I'm running an ECS Elitegroup 945GCT-M motherboard. no sound is not the worst thing that can happen with this (I actually have another real mac at work that I use) but it would be nice! thanks for any suggestions. Azurael
From what I can remember, the ECS mATX 945 boards use Realtek ALC862 codecs, so you'll want one of Taruga's patches from here... You should be able to confirm the sound codec on ECS' website.
Maximus Arelius
Realtek ALC883 HD. Google is your friend and you can get sound using T's HDA patcher if i remember correctly (someone correct my if I'm wrong)

Quackit
welp...I tried it and it shows the drivers, but there's no output. any ideas? J. Ummm... plug the speakers in? What do you mean "it shows the drivers"? What does your Sound panel in syspref show as output devices, anything?
Jayson44
yeah, that's what I meant by "shows drivers"...before, there was no output or input options, itunes didn't play anything, and no audio what so ever. now, it's showing output and input options, itunes will play songs, but there's no sound coming out. and yes, my speakers are plugged in. I'm not that newb... J.
Quackit
lol! Sorry bro, I couldn't resist. Just joking around with ya Other than trying different outputs (which by now you've prob already done more than once), I've not got much of a clue. Maybe there are some settings in the BIOS that you could mess around with for the audio? /shrug
