Steven2k7
I'm on the "Now remove the "download quarantine" flags and install the EP35DS4pack kext extensions" part of the guide, and when ever I type in "find /Volumes/*/EP35DS4pack/kext -exec xattr -d com.apple.quarantine {} ";" " I just get back "No such xattr: com.apple.quarantine" repeating over like a thousand times before it stops. Also, the only retail copy I could come up with was 10.5.4, so I couldnt install the 10.5.2 combo updater and the leopard graphics update. I hope skiping that step didnt mess anything up. Coadey
I was wondering why you installed onto MBR as the last step rather than a GUID.. It's true that Disk Utility only supports 500GB-per-partition on an MBR disk. I chose MBR because it's the easiest (IMO) way to put multiple OS's on one drive and allows you to use MBR boot loaders (e.g. GRUB under Linux). If the attribute isn't found, it just means the files you have aren't flagged as dirty Internet downloads. It's harmless, and using a more recent copy of retail Leopard should be fine as it includes the previous updaters. I haven't had time to try upgrading to 10.5.6 yet. Steven2k7
I successfully got it working! Thanks for the guide. The first time I tried the install, I got a kernal panic right as the system started up. I reformatted and tried again the next day and was successful. Right now its outputing at the correct resolution, but quartz extream is disabled. Would installing NVinject fix it? Now I just need to figure out if i can get my PCI RAID card to work... Steven2k7
I cant get shutdown to work on my computer. Ever since I installed OS X, and it seems like no matter what version I use, it does the same thing. When I shut down, it shuts down just fine, I think. It closes out of everything, and then gives me a black screen a few seconds later. I can hear my hard drives turning off, but the rest of my computer is on until I hold down the power button to turn it off. About once a month it will actually turn off on its own. I'm using the GA-EP35-DS4. I'm using the GA-EP35-DS4. It sounds like a problem with your AppleACPIPlatform.kext. Try re-installing it or looking for a different version. If you're using 10.5.6 read about the changes at: http://netkas.org/?p=78 Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/95910-guide-ga-ep35-ds4-1052-vanilla-install-1055-update/page/2/#findComment-1082333 Share on other sites
Steven2k7
How do I update to 10.5.6? I'm currently on 10.5.5, and just followed the directions for upgrading to 10.5.5 in the guide, but used the 10.5.6 update instead, but it dosnt work. It goes past the gray apple loading screen fine, and goes to a blue screen like its about to load the desktop, but it just shows the circle loading symbol, then it refreshes to a blue screen, then a few seconds later the loading circle comes back. I booted up with -v -x -s, and it stopped on the firewall security mode, and defaulting to full secure. which is kinda odd... When OSX appears, ENTER. Then you type -x. Usually works. You have to use the switch only once.
