DrFruit
Hi all, Can anyone help sort out an incorrectly detected cpu issue in the system profiler? I have a E6300 duo core 2 1.87ghz cpu but it's coming up as an Intel Core 2 solo? Is their a kext that i can replace or does this require a plist edit of some kind? Specs as per signature below... cheers all, Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/95461-kalyway-1051-incorrectly-detected-cpu-in-system-profiler/ Share on other sites
komeet
try the SMBIOS.kext from here: http://my.macdotnub.info/content/view/19/26/ Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/95461-kalyway-1051-incorrectly-detected-cpu-in-system-profiler/#findComment-680658 Share on other sites
DrFruit
hiya, I have downloaded the default AppleSMBIOS.kext from that link you posted. I copied to the extensions folder then did a chmod 755 then a chown root:wheel on that kext, rebooted and it still shows the same cpu (intel core solo), memory is still correct and all apps etc still function correctly so that saves replacing the original one back... Should i be doing anything else prior to the next boot or have i done this correctly? Are their are other versions of this kext that you have had success with? regards, Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/95461-kalyway-1051-incorrectly-detected-cpu-in-system-profiler/#findComment-680798 Share on other sites
PoloBear
Please check bios settings. If systeminfo show coresolo, you might have set "limit CpuID" wrong...
