pm2
Hi Everyone, I'd like to open this topic for HP compaq nw8440 owner who successfully installed Kalyway 10.5.1 on this laptop. He is my experience: turning SATA drive, Dual CPU, I can install Kalyway - with/without the vanilla kernel, but without the ATI drivers available in custom installation. I also managed the kalyway 10.5.2 (not right now) installation. It boots without pb - no boot if I set Dual Core again in the bios. I still have problems with embeded WIFI, LAN Card, and Audio (audio seems to be active in audio preferences, but no card is detected, and no sound goes out (even if I can activate/unactivate sound using the 3 bottons on the keyboard) Any other tried on this laptop? Let us know. PM Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/95280-installation-on-hp-compaq-nw8440/ Share on other sites
peregrine
Yea I am just as far as you. I could get the LAN working on 10.4.8 but not 10.5.2. It works great except for the LAN, Audio(never worked hard to install stuff), and Wifi(always broken). So if someone could figure out why the LAN driver is broken in 10.5.2 that would be reeally nice . Jian
Yeah, pretty much everything else works for me except for: 1) Dual core, random lock up without cpus=1, sometimes can run with both core for a long time. 2) Graphics cannot do both monitor, but got 1680x1050 alright. 3) Won't wake up after sleep. (Vanilla 9.2.2) NIC has to use that set MAC script Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/95280-installation-on-hp-compaq-nw8440/#findComment-761725 Share on other sites

bzbatl
I know it's been a while and I'm resurrecting a zombie thread - but has anyone gotten 10.5.5+ to work properly on the NW8440? Specifically looking for WiFi, especially since it appears it's a Broadcom card... ghoffman
I know it's been a while and I'm resurrecting a zombie thread - but has anyone gotten 10.5.5+ to work properly on the NW8440? Specifically looking for WiFi, especially since it appears it's a Broadcom card... i'm just trying now. istalled with iatkos v7 and no vga driver. my wifi is intel, and my ethernet is broadcom. you can get an hp=branded broadcom wifi nic for about $20 to replace the intel card, and that will pass the bios whitelist. there are links for kexts here: http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php...nject&st=40 Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/95280-installation-on-hp-compaq-nw8440/#findComment-1203994 Share on other sites
