Metuas
Hello. I have an HP Media Center PC m7357c with: Intel Core 2 Duo Pentium D 920 CPU 2.8 GHz supporting MMX, SSE, SSE2, SSE3, EM64T ASUS LITHIUM Motherboard (I'm not sure the exact brand, that's all CPU-Z tells me) with Intel i945P chipset 270G HD (this is unimportant, as I'm trying to install it on a separate WD 300G external hard drive) 1.5G RAM HP DVD Writer 840b (where I recorded and run the 10.4.6 JaS install DVD, which to my knowledge burned perfectly onto the DVD) nVidia GeForce 6200SE TurboCache Anything else you need to help if you can, I can provide, just ask. I'm not sure exactly what I have to provide as I'm not especially proficient with computers. Anyway, my problem is this. I boot the computer, works just fine, and loads the installer, and I get a prompt to hit any key to install Mac OS X or hit F8 for startup options. I hit enter and it begins to load Darwin/x86, and it returns to the prompt screen. If I go to the startup options, I boot it in verbose mode to see if it will tell me the problem, and it begins to load Darwin again, and I see some stuff about loading machkernels, and it reverts to the Hit any key to install Mac OS X key. No matter where I go, it returns me to the installer screen. My question is: Is this a problem with the processors, the motherboard, the DVD, or something else? And how do I go about fixing it? Thanks for your time and concern. EDIT: I am also having trouble getting VMWare set up - it asks for a host (type-in bar, not select local host or remote host like the screenshots I have seen) so if there's anyway to get this set up sans VMWare that would be great. Or, if it's not too much to ask, a way to get around or fix the host screen on VMWare, that would also be great. Thanks again.
westwaerts
Sata AHCI in Bios when the installer window pops up, choose diskutil from the top menu and format your drive hfs+ and in the options GUID or MBR ( i prefer GUID) dont click in the installer window. Metuas
I'm not talking about the Mac OS X installer. I don't even get that far. I get to the Darwin/x86 loader, which has the prompt to install. Not the actual Mac OS X installer. I hope that makes it clear.
shady23
I'm having a problem of this sorts as well. I have a clone though, running an AMD X2 4200+, MSI K9N Diamond mainboard, 1Gb RAM, PCI-e video card, SATA hard drives etc. I get to the "Press any key blah blah" screen and when I do that it said "Loading Darwin blah blah" , then my PC restarts, just like that. Thought it was a hardware prob, I tried changing the RAM, unplugging the hard drives and what not. Need help please:(
