hi. I have a pentium IV 2.0 Ghz pc that is SSE2 compatible and i want to install OS X 10.4.3 but i dont have a dvd drive or a dvd burner. i want to know if i can install it by mounting an image of macosx_10.4.3_8f1111_for_dtk_userdvd.dmg patched with JaS 1111a Generic Patch v4.2b PPF . I would like to follow THIS tutorial, but instead of burning the patched iso i want to mount a dvd drive with that image, using DAEMON tools.

Ps. If it is possible to install it from a mounted drive, i have one more question. I have 2 hard drives. hdd C:, where i have windows installed and hdd D:, where i have my downloaded files. Should i create the 6 GB partition to install mac OS X on the hard drive the has windows on it (C:) or on the other hdd (D:)?

Thanks in advance. Sorry, but im new to mac OS X and i would like to try it out on my pc.

thanks... but... oops. i forgot to specify that i wanted to run mac OS X natively ( and be able to dual boot between xp and OS X, like in the tutorial) because i only have 256 MB of ram, of which i can actually use only 224 becuase the rest is taken up by my on board graphics card... that sucks.. well now that you guys know that i need to run it natively, what do you think? can i install it from the mounted drive?

why not try to see what happens? it'll prob work, but with alot of disk swapping

well i probably will try to see what happens but the thing is, i dont even have the .iso so i cant do it. and i wouldnt want to screw things up and have to format everything and reinstall windows... and if someone else has tried this and can confirm that it isnt possible, it would be nice not to have to go through all the trouble trying...well anyways, thanks...

silly boy, don't let your ram limit you to install osx but it's all up to you anyway. try vmware as they suggested, mount your install disc through daemon tools and in vmware create a virtual disk that will use a physical disc (2nd hd) so that you can boot it natively after the installation in vmware. goodluck!

thanks for the advice. but i have one more question... i thought vmware was to basically run Mac os x as an application inside windows... i thought you had to use it to emulate mac os x and not to run it natively... sorry but my knowledge in this topic very limited. could you please explain how vmware works? (if it emulates mac os x, using up my ram or what...) thanks in advance ;)

could you please explain how vmware works?

VMWare emulates a computer. It creates a hardware environment for an operating system to be installed on. The more powerful your actual computer is, the better VMWare will run. For more information regarding its function you should visit a vmware website. For info on how to install OS X on VMware, look at the tutorials. If OS X works on your system, it may run sluggishly due to your lack of ram and any other hardware limitations.
