Thade Posted February 20, 2006 Share Posted February 20, 2006 I have installed 10.4.4 on 2 different drives and the result is the same. The current drive is 8 GB split in half with .4.3 in the front. It seems that I have edited the package dir correctly, install completes without a hitch. I cannot repair permissions per the instructions. The drive behaves like any other non-os drive and does not have the option to repair permissions. Upon booting to single user mode, the reult is an error for mass storage (card reader?) and iTunes phone driver and then it hangs with stuck curser & no prompt. Any idea where I went wrong? kikos Posted February 20, 2006 Share Posted February 20, 2006 I get that itunes dependency error even when my 10.4.4 boots up. I think the problem you are having is related to what the system is trying to do *after* that dependency error. A window with the disk info will appear. At the bottom left of the window is a check box that says somehting like ignore permissions. That is the problem. If the box is checked, uncheck it. Or if the box is unchecked, check it. I'm not in front of a mac right now and I forgot whether the box should be checked or not. After you fix that you should be able to fix partition. theKid Posted April 4, 2006 Share Posted April 4, 2006 Weird. I had the same problem - sort of. I found that after unplugging my USB HD my machine would boot up into single user mode fine.
