Here's what I'm planning:

Mobo: ASUS P5W DH DELUXE/WIFI-AP LGA 775 Intel 975X ATX Intel Motherboard

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16813131025

RAM: G.SKILL 8GB(4 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 800

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16820231151

CPU: Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 2.4GHz

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16819115017

Graphics Card: EVGA GeForce 8800GT 512MB

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16814130319

Wireless Card: ENCORE ENLWI-N802.11b/g Wireless Card

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...amp;Tpk=ENLWI-N

EDIT: Mobo built in wireless works.

I'm worried about the RAM working with the mobo, it doesn't say on newegg what voltage of RAM it needs.

Looks excellent, I don't know about the ENCORE card but chances are that it will work :) But I must say, the P5W DH is not an upgrade over your current P35C, the P5W uses a 2 year old 975 chipset whereas the P35C uses a much newer P35 chipset. So your choice, but I would go with one of those excellent overclocking DFI boards or some X38 based or if you really wanna get expensive, an X48 Intel motherboard if I was you, and if I was looking for an upgrade over the P35.

But enough said about that, that RAM should work perfectly, it clearly says in the specs of the P5W on the Newegg page that the Memory Standard is DDR2 800 ;)

Thanks for your awesome post.

The reason I chose the P5W was because it had built in RAID that works with OSx86. But I could just use a Rosewill RAID card.

Will an X48 motherboard work as well as the P35 in OSx86 functions?

What X48 Intel Motherboards work and would you recommend?

Well there are 2 things you should consider before getting an X38 or X48 motherboard: 1) The motherboard is expensive, about $300 or more2) The DDR3 RAM that is required for those boards cost anywhere from $500 to even $1000 depending on what you are gettingIf you still want to proceed, those things set aside, I can certainly give you some recommendations :)Well there are 2 things you should consider before getting an X38 or X48 motherboard: 1) The motherboard is expensive, about $300 or more2) The DDR3 RAM that is required for those boards cost anywhere from $500 to even $1000 depending on what you are gettingIf you still want to proceed, those things set aside, I can certainly give you some recommendations :P

I think it would be better to go with motherboard that will support penryn CPUs, Gigabyte DS4 for example. It is cheap, rock solid and works flawlessly with OSX. But if you can afford Mac Pro dont hesitate, you will see the difference in overall user experience.

Boot Camp,

You should see some speed and performance increase with the DDR3 RAM and if you take advantage of the new technologies introduced with those chipsets, like PCI Express 2.0 graphics cards then that will boost performance by a considerable amount. X38 and X48 are only for the highest end of system builders and if you go with a motherboard like that you might as well max out everything else as well :(

tadone,

X38 and X48 support Penryns as well and you are right, the DS4 is an excellent choice with full support but there isn't much of a difference between the P35C-DS3R he has now and a P35-DS4 is there?
