"Sigma Tel high definitaion Audio codec" does this work in osx86 10.4.8 tiger

hi guys, i'm currently running osx86 10.4.8 tiger in vmware . And there is no sound in mac os. i have

internal sound card of sigma tel. Is there any solution for sound?

 

I have dell optiplex 740

AMD Athlon 64 x2 dual core processer 5000

2 gb ram

motherboard= dell inc out225

ATI Radeon X1300 pro 256MB video card

What Sigmatel model do you have? Use something like Everest (free version) to find out. Then use the search as there's a lot of info on sigmatel sound cards.

VMWare creates a virtual sound card. so the OSX in your VMware environment will not see the Sigmatel sound card anymore. From memory, the sound card in the VMware is an ESS sound card. you will need to find the OS X driver for the ESS type card instead of the Sigmatel.

 

Normally you would just install the VMware tools. but I don't think there is a VMWare Tools for OSX. (only Windows and Linux)

 

The other thing I heard is the sound will only work if you installed the OSX in VMWare with the Sound card already enabled. if you enabled it afterwards. it will not pick it up.
