Ok so everyother installation alows me to use all cores (2 in this case because its on my laptop)im now trying TOH because iaktos wont alow me to use USB ports and kalyway doesnt shut down properly... so toh is running fine except.. i have to boot in with cpus=1... which is annoying..does this mean im locked to only using 1 core ? if i try to boot normaly i get a kernel panicactualy

edit: never mind guys... i give up cant be bothered anymore.. I still get kernel panics randomly sometimes when using cpus=1...-V doesnt help at all.. il just wait and see how jas does with his upcoming release

Hey there urgonah8me,

Do you have 10.5.1 installed? If so, you should try to install/upgrade to 10.5.2 and upgrade the kernel to 9.2. Search the forums here for more info and links to the updates.

I had the same problem with my 10.5.1 Kalyway install on my P5n32sli-se-deluxe (for a while I just set my boot flag to cpus=1 to auto boot with one core). I upgraded the kernel and I am now using both cores.

Also, what do you mean by not being able to use your usb ports? Do you mean at all, or usb 2.0 speeds?

Good luck!

Thanks for the reply man, well Im not sure.. my mouse works but USB pendrives dont... or any other USB device.. (this only happens in iaktos)

The weird thing is... I have the same installation on a USB hardrive (an identical installation) and i can boot off the USB hardrive on my laptop and i can use all the USB stuff i want :D

its very strange

The only explanation I can think of for that is that your motherboard has native USB keyboard and mouse support.

Hey urgonah8me,

Have you tried disabling Legacy USB support in your BIOS? I had to do that to get any USB 2.0 or high powered usb device to work. Just remember that you won't be able to set boot flags at the Darwin bootloader with a usb keyboard (unless you're using a PS2 keyboard, in which case, you'll be okay).

Might be worth a shot.
