itdoesnotwork
Hi @ all I just installed OSX 10.5.1. from iAtkos v1.0i r2 with efi Kernel on a XPS 1530. Specs: Core 2 Duo t7500 8600m GT Intel n Wireless Marvell 88E8040 Everything went smoothely (Dualboot with Vista), it works just perfect, except a few things. Wlan does not work but this isn't dramatically 'cause there is another card to boy to fix it. Haven't tried getting the Card Reader to work but is not important. The only Issue: There is no working driver for the Marvell Lan card I tried editing the AppleYukon2.kext plist by adding my ID (34 54 11AB) but unfortunately it didn't work. I edited the 88E8053 strings.... Any suggestions to get it working? Maybe by editing the 88E8055 or anything else? PLEASE help me if you can, i'd really like to get access to the internet.... There are a few drivers for other Free DSB on the internet if that helps. Thanks for answering! EDIT: ETHERNET WORKS!! Apple has a new Yukon2.Kext in their 10.5.7 Beta build. It supports certain 88E8040 Cards. Thread and further developement to be found here: http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=155935 For me it works out-of-the-box on a Dell 1530. Slice is also developing a Marvell.kext. Don't now exactly how well it actually works, but for those who are interested: http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php...135637&st=0 Attention: Using Yukon2.kext and Marvell.kext by Slice at the same time does not work. fffa
I have the same lappy, XPS M1530 and I've searched a lot, only to find that 88E8040 is not supported on FREEBSD.... Hope to see the breakthrough, I cannot get online with my Hackintosh. BTW: How do you manage your graphics driver conflict and your shutdown? Do you perform a hard shutdown everytime? itdoesnotwork
Well bad news, but I already expected that theres no driver at all. What I'm going to do is buying an Apple USB-Ethernet Adapter, originally invented for the Macbook Air, which is an external ethernet vard natively supported by 10.5.2. Hope it will work! Further I do not have any Grafic Driver conflicts, I just installed NVinject (I think 3.3) and everything worked just fine. Concerning the shutdown problem I haven't got a solution. Found this thread: http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=73234 but didn't work for me. Maybe I'm just too dump to install it cause I don't know how to compile the script with CHUD?! I installed chud and the package, but didn't get an executable so when I shutdown the computer I wait a minute or so (I hear a "klick") and then hard-turnoff the pc. All the other things including fingerprint reader work perfectly, the only thing driving me nuts is that I get a kernel panic sometimes when shuttimng down since updating to 10.5.2. zeamp
Still working on a solution for my 88E8040 (Inspiron 1525). It looks semi-hopeful... I can make it blink, but it doesn't want to do much else at this point. ganzhimself
At one point I had it being detected by messing with one of the Marvel Yukon kexts, but it messed with a bunch of other stuff, mainly because I didn't really know what I was doing. It never picked up on being plugged in though, it always said disconnected. I gave up on it after that. I have an external USB NIC that I tote around in my bag just in case I need a wired connection, so I'm ok with it not working.
