I used the Iatkos 1.0i R3 to install leopard on my 680i MB. Everything works perfect so im ready to update to 10.5.2 but i have a few questions first.

i am a total n00b at this and i have no idea what kernal i installed at install time. I have ready around and people say that vanilla kernal is not usable with the 680i, Is that true? Also i see people talking about EFI v8 and all that What is that and how would i know if i installed that as well?

also if anyone knows how i can update to 10.5.2 then thanks

i heard other people say that even if you use iatkos you can update with the lalyway 10.5.2 update. but really idk what is the big deal with the update, if you are scared to do it, than don't. i used kalyway and when it was done repaired my permissions and it was fine.

Click on the Apple on the top-left of your screen, and then click on About This Mac. Once that window opens, click on More Info... Once the System Profiler window opens, click on Software (left side of the window). This will tell you the kernel version you're running.

Now, in the same System Profiler window, click on Hardware (left side of the window). If you see anything that says "hack.in.t0sh" or any kind of serial number, odds are you're running PC EFI. PC EFI is a modified boot loader that allows regular PC's to run unmodified Apple kernels and kernel extensions, thus acting more like a real Mac.

If you're looking to update to 10.5.2, I would suggest the Kalyway 10.5.2 installer. That package is nice if you don't know your way around your Mac and Terminal.
