I think I'm finally going to try OSX86, after a few years of putting it off.

I was browsing the wiki, and I got totally overwhelmed. I'm normally pretty computer-literate, but I got completely lost. If possible, could someone help me out, or point me to what exactly to read?

Here's my setup, if it helps:

C2D E8400

Radeon HD 3850

Gigabyte DS3L

I'd greatly appreciate help, no matter how much or how little.

Thanks much.

The #1 thing to do is run cpu-z

http://www.cpuid.com/cpuz.php

And repot back more info on your system. (MB, soundcard, ect)

Good luck

My mobo has the P35 chipset. I don't have any addon cards in my PC as of now, besides my video card. Uh...I have 2 GB DDR2 PC2-6400 RAM (G.Skill). Not sure what else I can give you.

I'm reading through that FAQ right now. It seems very helpful so far.

EDIT: Would the Kalyway 10.5.1 DVD be the best bet for me? It says it's Intel-only, and afaik I have one of the newest Intel chips :)

I used this guide for my DS3R, http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?sho...689&hl=DS3R, similar to your board I think. Used the Kalway 10.5.1 and then the Kalway 10.5.2 Combo update followed by the kernel update pack.

The Vanilla Kernel worked and then really there was only the Sound Kexts to install and the Nvidia display driver for me.

You will need a SATA DVD drive though.

Another good guide that may work for your board: http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=90795
