Ilyace
Alright, so i keep fixing my own mistakes, as far as the actuall installation, and the bootfix patch. I have done everything possible but i still can't get Leopard to boot. Here is the guide i followed: here. I followed every step perfectly, and i did the bootfix patch. However, now when i go to boot Leopard (with the dvd still in the drive) i get this screen: As you can see, I have two partitions, one Leopard partition, and one XP partition. The Leopard partition is MBR. The problem is that whenever i press enter to boot the Leopard partition, the screen stays the same. I have even tried to enter -v, -v -x, or ?, but nothing works. Please can someone help me I am completely desperate. Thanks. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/90366-urgent-help/ Share on other sites
Krazubu
Looks like a kernel is missing or isn't named "mach_kernel". In the 2nd case you have to manually type the kernel name and hit enter Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/90366-urgent-help/#findComment-644810 Share on other sites
Ilyace
Thanks for the reply, so I would have to type in "mach_kernel" (without quotes) at the screen in the pic i posted? Krazubu
no, mach_kernel is the default name, if it was named so, it would work, then it's either missing or have an other name. Ilyace
So how can i fix this? Can i do this through the terminal in the installer? Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/90366-urgent-help/#findComment-644834 Share on other sites
Krazubu
You have to know what is the kernel name by looking the files at the root of your drive, with any possible way. If it's absent you'll have to copy one Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/90366-urgent-help/#findComment-644950 Share on other sites
Ilyace
Do you know the folder that it is supposed to be in? That way I can get a copy of it and put it in. Ilyace
I hope this is actually what the problem is, or else i will have done all this for nothing. edit: well, i went into terminal in the installer, and did a "find mach_kernel", and it is there, however i don't know where it is supposed to be or if it is in the right directory. Does anyone know where the mach_kernel should be in iatkos v1.0i? Yuusharo
I believe it should be at the root of the Leopard partition. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/90366-urgent-help/#findComment-645233 Share on other sites
Ilyace
Well, i found it, and it is by the correct name, so that must not be the problem. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/90366-urgent-help/#findComment-646382 Share on other sites
