SDRacer48
Insanely Macers, Microsoft has recently launched the DreamSpark program which allows students to have access to certain Microsoft products for free. Right now it is limited to college students at select schools (there is a work around), but it will be available to all college and high school students worldwide within the year. You can get such programs like Microsoft Expression Studio, XNA Game Studio 2.0, Microsoft Visual Studio 2008 Professional Edition, and more. You can also get the Windows Server 2003 Standard Edition. Free Windows Operating System!!! Microsoft DreamSpark Program Here is how to get registered and get your free programs: 1. You must have a Windows Live ID. You can create one by using the Sign In button on the top of the page. A Windows Live ID is absolutely free of charge. 2. You must be a current student at a university listed. If they do not have your university, do not worry. Under the list of universities, select Other Verification Options (or something like that) and you will be set up and verified through www.journyed.com. *NOTE: I am a U.S. resident, so this may not work internationally. 3. After you sign up though www.journyed.com, you will have to wait about 30 minutes for your verification emails. They will send you three. Wait for all three. You will not be verified after only the first one. 4. After you receive all three emails, click the link they tell you to follow. It is in the second email you get. 5. That will take you to the Microsoft DreamSparks home page (Well after it shows you a "YOUR VERIFIED " page). Then all you do is click on the product you want and download. Also, do not forget to generate your license key if it is needed (i.e. Microsoft Server 2003). I know this is a Mac forum, but a lot of us are Windows users on a regular basis, and who doesn't like free stuff. SleeplessMedia
This site is so poorly done...something is not right here. Why would microsoft outsource this to a group of people that cant seem to even get thier website to render well? Very suspicious. Probably a phishing site.... Dermatea
What are you talking about? The site renders fine, and it has a simple interface which bodes well since it is geared towards academics, so there's no need for all the bling. Personally, I like simpler web designs rather than the ones that are bogged down with loads of flash and java content that just makes browsing them on older machines simply irritating, regardless of how great they all may look on newer computers. SDRacer48
But its only for university or college students You enter your info into the journeyed thing and they probably verify it. They do verify it. Going through JourneyEd is the alternative way to get verified. You have to be a high school or college student to take advantage of this program or you are SOL. They collect your name, the univeristy/school you attend, and your SSN to verify that you are a student. SDRacer48
I selected the K-12 option when I was going through journeyed and it gave me an error saying that DreamSpark was only available to university or college students I guess JourneyEd will not (or at least is currently not) be including high school students like Microsoft is. Sorry... Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/90057-microsoft-dreamspark-student-program/#findComment-645296 Share on other sites
