dnjmarlboro
Hi all, my System (P5K, E6600 @3,2 and 4gb RAM) is running really sweet. Since my Motherboard has Firewire 400 included, which is running without problems, i want to push the the speed of my external HDD a little bit more (it is FW800 ready). Do you have any ideas which Firewire 800 (1394b) to buy? Does a 1394b PCI Card do the job or does a PCIe 1394b Card perform even better? Which 1394b Card should i buy with native OSX support? Thanks Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/89905-need-help-to-find-a-decent-firewire-card/ Share on other sites
(MoC)
The PCIe has better performance but either way you'll notice a speed bump. And all the cards are basically the same thing, just look for good prices. I have a couple of Dynex 3 port cards with the Agere L-FW323-06 chipset on them that work great hell even the firewire port on my SB Audigy worked so appears as long as OS X supports the chipset they will work.
