    alc888 with ich9

i got mine working with AppleDHAPatcherv1.20 (search for it) and alc888.txt (search for that too). worked great.
  4. will PCI fw cards work in an OS that is expecting all your add-in cards to be PCIe ? it's the one thing i'm missing from my asrock conroe...

    Legality Question

i had 5.51 legit, with none of the plugins enabled. i crossed over to 6, upgraded to 7. when i got 7, apple pro support GAVE ME all the codes to unlock the the plugins on 5.51 PC. i was blown away by this nice gesture of customer service. a legacy product by emagic is SO not their problem. YMMV - but i was blown away.

it solves your viewing, heating, and clothes-drying expenses, all in one tiny little package. Ok, maybe not tiny.

    Microsoft Tries to Buy Yahoo!

I may be showing my age...but wasn't it "rocketmail" prior to being hotmail? i could be completely off base here.
  8. my m-box crackles if i'm running any video-streams at the same time as audio (through the mbox). i dont have the same problem if running audio out of the built-in ALC888. Asrock Conroe 1333 here. no problems on cracking audio in or out on the mbox if i'm JUST doing audio. Protools or Logic.
  9. have you had any luck with the shutdown issue using the kalyway 10.5.1 efi/vanilla installer?
  10. fx5200 is a good, really cheap option if you just need one DVI out and don't need much 3d power. i see them used for $20-30.
  11. incase anyone cares, or has the same problem, it was a single BIOS setting that had me rebooting constantly. details can be found here, thanks to DUNE31! #96 http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?s=&...st&p=545523 copied: WELL I WANT TO SUMMARIZE THINGS: BIOS SETTINGS ARE VERY IMPORTANT ! SO THIS IS A BIOS SETTING TEMPLATE : To your CPU CONFIGURATION section : MAX CPUID VALUE Limit (or similar) : Disabled Vanderpool or virtualization : Disabled CPU TM Function : Enabled Excecute Disable Bit (or called NX or XD on some mobos) : Enabled (the most important, if not enabled the result is reboot loop with vanilla kernel) To your POWER section : ACPI 2.0 Support : Enabled ACPI APIC : Enabled I had the "execute disable bit" to disabled, though in the asrock bios is was called something else. as soon as i changed it, whammo, no more constant rebooting after seeing a quick flash of the EFI text. the new install on a sata drive, from a sata DVD, GUID, vanilla. OS sees the drives (250 and 500 gig) no problems, no apparent speed issues, no compatability mode enabled, afaik.

    New Penryn Mac Pros Announced

8 30" cinema display support LOL.
  13. Hackintosh:~ Hackintosh$ uname -a Darwin Hackintosh.local 9.1.0 Darwin Kernel Version 9.1.0: Sat Nov 17 02:56:34 SCT 2007; made by ToH:xnu-1228.0.2~1/BUILD/obj/RELEASE_I386 i386 does that mean i skipped on going vanilla (the two checkboxes), and just went with the TOH kernel? (kalyway 10.5.1) i cant seem to re-install this cleanly on another drive without the common "constant reboot" problem.
