shootingfreak101
Hey, I currently have two self-built desktops. One is an amd 6000+ and an intel p4. I'm going to sell both on ebay and build a core 2 desktop so that I can run leopard! (i've been trying for 2.5 weeks and can't get it to work for the love of god!!!) I'm trying to choose between processors and mobos, can you guys give me advice for what would work the best!? Core 2 Quad Core 2 Duo 3 GHz Core 2 duo 2.66 Mobos: ASUS 1 ASUS 2 What board and processor do u think is the best for leopard and the best bang for your buck????????? http://www.newegg.com/product/product.aspx...N82E16819115017 Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/88120-new-computer/ Share on other sites
sh0td0wn
Did you try using Zeph's DVD? Btw, I wouldn't give up on your AMD box because 10.5.2 rev 1 is being uploaded tonight... and I bet it will solve your problems. QckSlvrGuyInKC
I just built a new machine around a Core 2 Duo e8400 (3 GHz/6MiB cache) and it seems to be fine, especially since it has the new SSE4 instruction set. Of course, I'm still trying to get Leopard loaded on it at this time, but that might be due to the fact that I cheaped out on the motherboard (ToH crashes while trying to load, no KP or anything). Synaesthesia
Look at the HCL! wiki.osx86project.org/wiki/index.php/HCL_10.5.1 The Asus P5W-DH Deluxe is really easy to get working with OS X. The P5K supports the newer cpus, but I prefer the Gigabyte Models, so I would recommend a Gigabyte P35-DS3L or P35-DS3R. They also seem to be a little more compatible, but that's just my opinion! What cpu is up to you! I would say the Quad-Core Q6600 is a great choice, otherwise get a Dual-Core and overclock it. Either way you're getting oodles of speed!
