InfernalEternal
Hey guys, just wanting to know whether my system would be able to run Leopard sufficiently performance and compatibility wise (will it actually work etc). Below are the specifications of my machine. Thanks, much appreciated. Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 Gigabyte P35-DS3 (Click for Specs) Gigabyte 8600 GT (256MB) 2GB DDR2 RAM LG GSA-H62N x18 DVD-RW Will the audio work out of the box? Will networking work out of the box? Will the machine be able to be put to sleep? Etc, etc, if not is there any fixes that can be taken to allow such functionality to work? What would be the best distribution (as such) of Leopard to try? iATKOS? Kalyway? hecker
Why don't you try it and tell us? Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/87612-will-this-pc-run-leopard/#findComment-623722 Share on other sites
InfernalEternal
Why don't you try it and tell us?Because asking for peoples thoughts whom might have similiar hardware sounds like a smarter idea then wasting precious bandwidth on something that might not work? This is a discussion forum is it not? Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/87612-will-this-pc-run-leopard/#findComment-623735 Share on other sites
frizbot
It is indeed. The RAM, CPU, and optical drive should work fine. Search the forums for the motherboard and VGA model and compatibility. There's also the hardware compatibility lists in the link in my signature. The MB is outdated, but could work fine. jjduro
everything will probably work. I've used one of those Mobos and, aside the ethernet, everything went ok. For LAN I had to install a realtek LAN card, and for sound I just made a linux codec dump and used it on Taruga's patcher found on this forum. Finally, you'd better check your graphic's card compatibility Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/87612-will-this-pc-run-leopard/#findComment-624112 Share on other sites
Korrupted
On Leopard, the realtek LAN cards on these mobo series shouldn't need the realtek kext. It should work out of the box. Mine did..
