rimmi2002
Hi I need a new a new videocard for my hacknitosh. On the compatability list it says the 8500GT has no QE/CI. Is that true for the iatkos leopard release? if so...what does it mean...can somone please explain to me. Does it limit playing opengl games only or does it affect everyday usage like surfing the net and video editing stuff in any way? Thank you for your help in advance. rimmi2002
Thanks I'll try looking for something else now. Any suggestion of good compatible budget cards would be really appreciated. I mainly just surf the web, do some photo and home video editiing. Basically no video games. The cheaper the better. Thanks.
haxbox
Hi, I'm pretty sure it's supported with the 10.5.2 kexts going around. I originally tried my 8800GTS 640mb in my haxintosh and it worked a treat so I went out and bought an 8400GS (low profile to suit the case) and was disappointed initially to realise that it wasn't supported. However I found through this forum an installer package for the 10.5.2 kexts/opengl subsystem/nvInject all in one. I formatted to get rid of all the {censored} I installed by mistake with my first install, made sure I selected no graphics drivers in the install and then used the 10.5.2 nvidia package post-install and QE/CI is running fine on 10.5.1 and my 256mb 8400GS. I can even play TFC in Steam with crossover Now, if only I could solve this kernel_task eating 95% cpu issue...
rimmi2002
is this kernel_task that is eating 95% of your cpu related to the videocard or something else?
