I have Leopard (Galyway) installed on a Gigabyte GA-GM-G33-DS2R. It installed with no modification (2 sata drives were not set to ahci and the dvd drive is ide). The native GMA 3100 graphics gave 1024x768 in millions of colours and no QE/CI support. LAN worked out of the box and sound required installation of a driver. Sleep did not work, even for the display (Samsung). I then installed an Ati HD 2600 Pro (256megs) and installed the latest Triakis driver and inputted my Device-ID into Info.plist found inside ATIRadeonX2000.kext . The number put in was 0x95891002 (in between a bunch of similar numbers already there). I edited the file as root. I then rebooted. Got lot's of choices for resolutions and colours but QE is not support while CI is. Here the info for what it is worth:

------

ATI Radeon HD 2600 Pro:

Chipset Model: ATI,RadeonHD2600

Type: Display

Bus: PCIe

PCIe Lane Width: x16

VRAM (Total): 256 MB

Vendor: ATI (0x1002)

Device ID: 0x9589

Revision ID: 0x0000

ROM Revision: 113-B2250F-207

EFI Driver Version: 01.00.207

Displays:

SyncMaster:

Resolution: 1280 x 1024 @ 60 Hz

Depth: 32-bit Color

Core Image: Software

Main Display: Yes

Mirror: Off

Online: Yes

Quartz Extreme: Not Supported

Display Connector:

Status: No display connected

------

Does anyone have a solution to this?

By the way, Fusion works great with Boot Camp on this system (it uses the hard drive with XP on it).

I took the path of least resistance and ordered a PNY GeForce 7300GT (256megs) . Ideally, of course, the GMA 3100 graphics will one day get a driver (they do work in Linux).

Finally, while I can get the display to sleep I cannot get the system to sleep.

Any help would be appreciated...ls

  • 2 months later...

my bet is you did not install atiradeonx2000 properly (did you edit the plist while in extensions folder ?)

You should drag the kext to desktop, modify plist (best with bbedit) and then reinstall with kexthelper. Hope this helps, i have the same card and it works
