lateralusman
Alright I finally got past the Still Waiting For Root Device error by putting in a IDE dvd drive and now I get as far as the mac install screen language chooser but my mouse and keyboard don't work! I've tried three USB mice and a USB keyboard and then tried a PS/2 mouse and a PS/2 keyboard. As far as I know my BIOS doesn't have a legacy USB option. I get the same error with 10.4.8 JAS AMD Intel SSE2 SSE3 incl PPF1, Uphuck 10.4.9 Universal dvd v1.3 and Mac OSX 10.5.1 AMD SSE2 SSE3 32 bits Thanks in advance! Chaos Storm
Have you tried waiting for the installer screen to start then inserting a USB device? Some USB controllers act strange if a device is plugged in before OS X completely loads. That's what happend with a notebook I worked on. Plugg in a Keyboard/Mouse after it loads and all is well. Slinger2g
Use PS2 KB/Mouse. Plug them in before you boot your computer. They should function. Do not combine both.(USB mouse w\ PS2 KB and vice versa) Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/86933-mouse-and-keyboard-dont-work/#findComment-623286 Share on other sites

Slinger2g
I had to have a PS/2 Mouse and Keyboard with a USB Mouse plugged in all at the same time on certain installers now that I am actually thinking about it. The USB mouse should function instead of the PS/2 Mouse. Give that a try Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/86933-mouse-and-keyboard-dont-work/#findComment-627939 Share on other sites

danerd100
Okay, I got mine working. Use PS2 mouse and keyboard, and go into your bios and disable USB function. I am not sure if this disables it in Windows, but if it does, during the install disable it, then add the kext into mac and reenable it Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/86933-mouse-and-keyboard-dont-work/#findComment-631085 Share on other sites
