Maxintosh
Even after being on the market for less than half a year, more iPhones sold in the fourth quarter than Windows Mobile phones in the United States, according to research from Canalys. Canalys researchers estimate that the iPhone had 28 percent of the U.S. converged-device market in the fourth quarter of 2007. Research in Motion, with 41 percent, had the largest share of the market. Windows Mobile phones had a 21 percent share of devices sold in the quarter, falling into third place behind Apple. link Not bad for being on the market for less than 6 months Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/86444-apple-beats-microsoft-motorola-in-q4-phone-sales/ Share on other sites
Tex1ntux
1. Microsoft doesn't make phones, they make software. 2. Everyone knows Motorola hasn't had anything decent since the first RAZR. 3. Is the exclamation point really necessary? Maxintosh
Microsoft doesn't make phones, they make software. I'll be sure to get that memo out to microsoft and the media first thing in the morning. They are still considered to be MS based phones. Is the exclamation point really necessary? Yes. How are the two related at all? The sales figures were from the 4th quarter, and at that time the iPhone was less than 6 months old. I think they're just trying to point out that even though it's a new entry to the market that it's doing really well. I'm not an iPhone fan because of AT&T, but they are apparently selling like popcorn. idividebyzero
Im sure the numbers wouldnt be nearly as impressive if the iPhone went up against the other phones. Its always fun to spin information I guess. I dont know why the iPhone is always lumped into the category that the business phones are, its not a business or PDA phone, its a multimedia phone aimed at mainstream people. Although I think the iphone is about to get seriously jacked by the newly designed motorola blackberry pearl and blackjack at $99, theyre super cheap and are just going to mollywhop the iphone in the "smartphone category".
