Mebster
my sata harddrive to hfs+ please....bump If you already have OS X installed then you can use Disk Utilities and create a partition and do it with that. But the last time I used Disk Utilities to create a partition in my hackintosh it wiped out all my partitions. So I would generally use XP or even GParted in a Ubuntu Live CD (I've heard you can just get GParted Live CD but I couldn't figure out how it worked). XP 1. When done boot normally and click start then run type in "diskpart" (no quotes) press enter 2. Type "list disk" press enter 3. Type "select disk 0" press enter (or whichever disk you want. If you only have one disk it is disk 0). 4. Type "list part" press enter to show all the partitions on your hard drive. You will notice you do not see the empty space you made in Partition magic 5. Type "create partition primary id=af" then press enter. (Alternative: If you did not use Partition Magic then type instead "create partition primary size=6660 id=af" to create a 6GB space for OSX. Replace 6660 with a greater figure if needed) 6. Type "list part" press enter. Now you will see the new partition OS X will be installed on. 7. Type "exit" press enter GParted is petty easy to work out from the Ubuntu Live CD but I think you need to format the partition as FAT32 so Disk Utility can write to it. In both cases you then go into OS X and format the new partition (which it will now see) as HFS+.
