Been working on this all day. I'm attempting to install on a Dell M90, here are the specs:

Intel Core2Duo 7200

nVidia Quadro 2500M

Broadcom 57xx

Sigmatel audio

screen is 1920x1200 res

Using the Kalyway 10.5.1 disc. Able to get through the installer without a problem. Installing both vanilla EFI drivers, nvidia laptop drivers, and Boot GUID drivers. Formatted partition GUID and install ran smooth.

Upon reboot, if I leave the disc in, I get a ./com.apple. something error.

If I take the disc out, I get a gray screen with an apple logo, shortly after the screen hiccups for a moment, then goes black and I get a mouse cursor. The mouse looks pretty small, as if the screen is running a high res.

Then it just sits there. Second time I've done it, sits there for a half hour each time before I just manually turned off the laptop.

I saw in another post about booting into single user mode. I types -s at the boot screen, and it shot me to the command line. I never got the prompt to do the 2 things. No one seems to say what these two things are, so I don't know what to do. I tried the touch command, then rebooting, but that didn't help.

Also, I was having the same issue of a slow running install, so I disabled (in the BIOS) one of my cores. Also, I run cpus=1, too, but I think it's redundant.

Any ideas? I hope I've provided enough information.

Did you try disabling one of your cores?

You can either go to the Bios or boot with cpus=1 as a parameter.

Keep the good fight.

[Edit]

I had originally posted "cpus=0" i fixed it to cpus=1

Sorry

I have same problems with my laptop. Sony Vaio VGN FS 315-s,PM750 1.86 SSe,SSe2,nvidia6400Go,1Gb,xblack display. I installed first j@$ amd sse,sse2 tiger and no problems[usb sound, all works] at all, except inet and 1024x768 reso.

I did a "upgrade" with kayl.10.5.1 and after reboot i get past the apple logo and a blue screen with the cursor appears. The End. A clean installation with + w/o Efi,vanilla i get the same errors[.../com.apple.Boot.plist not found].

Making the partiotion active will let me boot without the dvd, but unlike with the "upgrade" way, i cant bypass the apple/greywhite loading screen[reboot auto].

Any ideas ?

Your laptop is a SSE2 machine, don't select vanilla (SSE3 only), also do NOT select any drivers when installing, you can do that later, when customizing your installation, only select:

SSE2

EFI (MBR or GUID, depends on your partition type, they both must match)

Let me know,

Alex

Edited my first post to reflect that I had indeed disabled a core. Just forgot to mention it. Thanks.

You selected video drivers when customizing your installation? If yes, don't select any drivers, only the kernel and the EFI, and worry about the drivers later...

SSE2

EFI (MBR or GUID, depends on your partition type, they both must match)

Ok thx for the info. Will try asap[need to put again other disk,no usb boot ;) ]. Apart from this, i cant install on my amd anymore.

I get [terminal] the following message :

Device could not be accessed exclusively. A reboot will be needed for....

I never had this problems, sometime when fixing the boot, active partiont thing. I get the error volume maybe corrupted or something, but only a few times. Since then only the device error appears, of course after reboot i cant start leop.

i had vista as 1º then 2º leo. I did all ways pos. 1ºleo etc. about 6 installation later, im at the start again. I changed sata with a ata, an no go. dunno where the problem is. Of course all efi,no efi and so on all "version of install"· i did.

Thx for any help.

€: the pendrive patcher bootfix, doesnt work with this veriosn. [2/3 message no directories found sometihng]

€2: Mbr + sse2 on a 1 big partition works perfect, inet out of the box, dispal @1024x768 and usb sound detected, but sound is not clear, sounds is a bit strange. After a update[apple]i lost inet conncetion. Trying now with 2 partition setup and some drivers[preselected]
