InorganicMatter
Let me preface by saying that the only cell phone I've ever had is a phone from work. They make all the IT guys carry company phones so that they can send us distress signals at all hours of the night. So that being said, if I got an iPhone, how does purchasing the unit and service work? I have an Apple store here, and they sell iPhones there. If I buy the unit from them, then do I have to go to Cingular and get iPhone service, then put their SIM in my phone? How much a month is that? If there's a contract, what happens if I want to upgrade my iPhone when the 3G unit comes out? Is it as simple as getting the new unit and swapping in my SIM? As you can tell, I'm clueless as to how this complicated sales system works. I grew up when you just paid month-to-month for phone service and the unit was up to you, without any of this contract stuff. (MoC)
Okay, lets start. 1. iPhones can be purchased with sims from two locations officially: 1. AT&T (Cingular) 2. Apple 2. iPhones CAN ONLY BE ACTIVATED FROM iTunes!!!!!!! 3. Rate Plans: Apple has a very nice list: http://www.apple.com/iphone/easysetup/rateplans.html Enjoy!
