tbu3
Has anyone successfully installed Leopard on a Centrino, SSE2 only system? If so can anyone post detailed instructions on how you made it work. I have an IBM R51 (model 2887-58H) laptop with Centrino 1.5GHZ processor, 1.25GB RAM and Intel 855 video. Tiger worked flawlessly but I only get an endless reboot with Leo using the ToH disc. Thanks in advance. Lactobacillus P
Nope, Kalyway 10.5.1 doesn't work on my Tracelmate 292LMi, 2Gb, 1.5Ghz PentiumM SSE2, Ati 9700 Radeon Mobility 64Mb Installation disk boots allright, installation goes ok, after rebooting it just hangs the moment you'd expect graphic drivers to be checked and loaded. I opted not to use the Ati stuff because it will not work with my 9700 card. Besides 9600/9700 kexts are PPC only on Leo. There are people who have been busy trying to get the Ati 9700/9600 to work using patches of other releases or combining kexts but to no real succes in my case. Perhaps this will change in 10.5.2 I must say that JaS 10.4.8 upgraded to 10.4.9 with SSE2 kernel and patched 9600 kexts works great with resolution change, openGL, CI and QE working like a charm. tbu3
Too bad for poor folks like me who's stuck with old PCs I guess we have to wait till someone finds a way to make Leo work on SSE2. I read about someone in the forum who had success in installing on SSE2. It includes the one who made Leo run on an EEPC. But I'm still to find a complete step-by-step guide to make it work. dothacker
I AM using kalyway 10.5.1 on Toshia Qosmio F15-AV201 w/ centrino with no problems. all i did was chose SSE2, no video, no network, EFI_MBR patch (MBR format by the way) and i think that's it... i didn't choose Vanilla kernel coz i read that's only for SSE3, and my video card is geforce go 6600 so i DID NOT chose nvinject. after that, it installed and been using it for 2 weeks now. i had a problem with it for a day coz it kept panicking until i replaced my kext for Intel 10/100 LAN. but after that, i have no problem at all. right now i have 1024x768 resolution, but i'm happy coz i can watch anime and do all this and that with no problems... so don't lose hope... to sum it up... MBR format SSE2 EFI_MBR patch DID NOT chose NVinject DID NOT chose network if that didn't work, just use process of elimination... do it again and add/subtract things... that's it. spole
Hi Dothacker, I have a setup similar to yours and was wondering if you were able to change the screen resolution to a higher one, and what you used to do it? PascalP
WARK1970: Can you tell me how you got your 9600 mobile working? I just completed installing JaS 10.4.8 on my Thinkpad T42, and everything is working like a charm, except from QE/CI, and, as always, WLAN. I've got the G15-AV501R. It booted once, but I haven't been able to get it to do it again. I'll these settings when I wipe the drive again...
