guaterickie
Ok i really need to clarify this for myself because all the guides dont seem to say this. I really want to get EFI working so im trying to clarify as much as i can. I currently have a working darwin x86 partition of mac os x leopard so i know how to install and everything My time machine HD is partitioned in GUID so can i select this option to install on the target HD? When about to install iATKOS on the last screen and you click on the customize option what is supposed to be chosen in order for EFI to work? Here is somewhat what it looks like: iATKOS main system Bootloader: Darwin x86 Bootloader: EFI (This includes three other options, which ones do i choose?) IF i choose to do EFI am i supposed to install the SEE2/SEE3 Kernel or no? IF i choose to do EFI am i supposed to install any other drivers? eg. NVinject, Ethernet On my current install of leopard i have chosen the following: Main System Darwin x86 bootloader SEE2/SEE3 Kernel SATA something by netkas to fix crashes NVinject Realtek Driver IN ORDER FOR EFI TO WORK WHAT DO I HAVE TO ADD TO THAT? its really a simple question but i dont want to confuse anyone so im trying to clarify as much i can. please help me! guaterickie
PLEASE GUYS! its a very simple question but i cant find the answer anywhere. when it says something about it the answer is too broad. Im just waiting for a reply because once i get it im going to give it a go and if it doesnt work out i know what will and i have a time machine back up anyway Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/83091-what-is-supposed-to-be-chosen-in-iatkos-v10ir2/#findComment-589993 Share on other sites
iScott
When you are in the installer you need to partition your hd as MBR not GUID, after that you need to install the Darwin Bootloader, in iATKOS you are the one who installs it, not the installer. In utilities it is the third one down called Darwin Bootloader (I think). It will bring up the terminal, just follow the instructions, it will ask you what disk and what partition you want to install it on, then it will ask you if you want to install EFI, and then it will ask you again if you are sure. All you want to pick in the custom part is just the base system that is already selected. Just to let you know you probably will need to use GParted Live after the install to set as boot. You can google GParted Live and download it if you do not have it, or if you have a Live linux distro like Ubuntu, you can use the GParted in that distro to set it boot. Good luck and have fun. It really isn't that hard to do once you figure it out. kowyzg0moo
Select EFI. That should do the trick. I had issues with the other option, but yah on iATKOS v1.0r2 EFI booted fine for me. joneslee85
That's the same question I would like to ask. In my case, I chose all 3 options of EFI and results in immediate restart everytime boot up. So I only choose Darwin X86 but end up with blinking cursor bug (and is forced to boot my Mac using the DVD) Ok i really need to clarify this for myself because all the guides dont seem to say this. Yes i already know you have to select EFI but which ones under EFI. there are THREE options. i know the first 2 are obligatory but should i select the third one? Hi there, Yes there are 3 options, first is the darwin boot + efi (select this one) second (there are 2 left) stock kernel and apple stock kernel, select one of them reinstal if it doesn't work always select 2 of them (1&2 of 1&3) Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/83091-what-is-supposed-to-be-chosen-in-iatkos-v10ir2/#findComment-590706 Share on other sites
