jaredh
I had the same restarting problem during my installation. What I did is changed the boot order (press esc right at powerup on my comp) and had it boot from my "ATAPI CD/DVD" drive (it may say something different for you). I then pressed f8 at the initial/countdown screen and entered the -v command. In my case, I had to set it to boot from my DVD drive manually each time. Hopefully this works for you! uplink
So this the problem! its the same reason, why i was not able to install kalyway 10.5.1 too. you need to do what i did. you need to restore the ISO file to separate partition on the same HD that you want to install the OSX and then boot the install form it. its worked for my. or just buy an external USB DVD. uplink
there is a nice guide here with pic. the only problem you may have is that you must have same version of osx install to use the diskutill to do that. i have 2 computers so i just pluged the HD to the other computer (which have a working osx) and did the restore, and then pluged it back to the first computer and it worked(the install). maybe there is same program that you can do that under windows... there was version that the install worked for me, directly for the DVD, it was 10.4.10. if you want i can search what version exactly it was. uplink
I dont know about the dual boot thing, but i advise you to install the osx in a separate HD (1st HD-VISA or whatever. st2 HD-OSx) and of course SATA. you can press (F8 in asus mobo, F10 in intel mobo) and choose what HD you want to boot from. try to google a different guide for install leopard from Hard Drive, there is alot of guides. uplink
leave it.. you'll erase it and make it Mac OS X Extended (Journaled) anyway in the diskutil. G-monay
I was able to get Mac OS loaded onto the Seagate HD by changing the drive type to IDE. However, when loading and the Apple appears & the rotating blinking circle, then it just turns into a black screen. Thankfully I can dual boot and now am back on my Vista HD. Any suggestions? However, when loading and the Apple appears & the rotating blinking circle, then it just turns into a black screen. Thankfully I can dual boot and now am back on my Vista HD. Any suggestions? Probably a video driver issue -but also a kernel panic. Note that some laptops have very different versions of the standard video cards and the laptop display may not work under Mac OS. You can find other topics with your video card and "black screen on boot" issue. Try the verbose -v mode during boot. If the latter (kernel panic) make sure you got a proper kernel for your CPU/architecture.
