Grav3Mind Posted January 16, 2008 Share Posted January 16, 2008 hey guys i dunno why but some things arent running right like when i try to shut down i get the grey screen asking me to restart....wtf? lol and the cpu usage seems to be pretty high as well at idle or when doing simple things such as web browsing. heres my system specs maybe you guys can tell me what packages to install with the iATKOS 10.5.1 install dvd Pentium 4 with HT (hyper threading is off at current) at 3.00 Ghz 1.5 Gigs of ram Geforce 5500 FX with 256 megs of ram (pci card) and the sound is soundmax but i got that working just fine and my computer is a Dell Dimension 3000 but i upgraded it a little as you can see above. any suggestions including which packages to install or if you think i should use another distro. lemme know! socal swimmer Posted January 16, 2008 Share Posted January 16, 2008 that gray screen is called a kernel panic. open activity monitor (applications -> utilities) and see what is using the cpu. It could be spotlight indexing your computer, which is normal. <apple><shift><4> allows you to select an area to take a screenshot of, or you can use grab (applications -> utilities). idk about the kernel panic.
