Selayan
I bought an iphone that has 1.1.2 firmware and I already have cingular/AT&T as my carrier. Do I have to unlock the phone to use my cingular sim card in the Iphone? Isn't the unlocking for people that have other networks and want to use the Iphone? Is there a way to just activate it without using Itunes or selecting the option to add the 20 dollar a month extra data plan to your contract? A.I.Ghost
A ) unlock and activation are different things. 1 ) you can crack-activate the phone via 1.1.2-jailbreak.jar (java application), this way, you'll use your ATT sim without a problem and bypass the itunes activation process. 2 ) as far as i know, there is no unlock (= use iphone with any simcard) at the time. B ) And why are you asking such a question here, when there is a nice iphone resource - "modmyifone"? There you'll find all answers and the software i wrote about. I'm not posting any links. Selayan
Thanks a lot for the info. I do not need it unlocked yet since I have cingular. I guess I will jailbreak it and bypass the itunes activiation. I'm going to try and post the same thing on the forums at that site. Thanks again. JSn1™
Right. If you're getting AT&T or Cingular, just activate no need to unlock. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/81114-112-iphone/#findComment-586079 Share on other sites
