kombucha
So I guess I've grown used to needing the cpus=1 string in my boot file, but is it ever going to be removable? Is there some complicated solution to allow me to use my full processing power, or something being developed? Or will I always be wasting half of my system's real power? Just curious and I couldn't find anything with a quick search.
KirbySaysHi
I think dual core support depends on your motherboard. On JaS 10.4.8 I could rock both cores with the packaged kernel, but with 10.5.1, I needed to use the "Golden Kernel": http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=73199 Basically, I copied over all the kexts from the golden.zip, and then put the kernel located in the golden.zip into the root of my drive (renaming it to mach_kernel_golden). Then, when you boot, at the prompt type "mach_kernel_golden" to try booting with that kernel. But, make sure you remove the cpus=1 from your com.apple.Boot.plist first. Good luck! P.S. That golden dealie is 9.0.0, not 9.0.1 like the ToH.
kombucha
Interesting... but I'm pretty sure I'm rocking 9.0.1 (Kalyway). Good to see that there is some work being done on it, maybe I'll dig around a bit deeper.
kombucha
I can't seem to find any other method... I saw some stuff about "platform=x86pc", but I didn't really understand it. Other ideas?
