pleese, guys, download Altivec Fractal Carbon, and launch

it's a mandelbrot calculator with Altivec optimisation.

it 's PPC only and it works under Rosetta.

My score: 123,71 on xbench 1.2

Scores on Altivec Fractal Carbon :

Without Altivec : 258,36 Megaflops

With Altivec : 3574,52 Megaflops

(a 400 Mhz G4 is about 1300 megaflops)

(remember that Altivec emulation is supported ONLY on 10.4.3 8F1111(a-g))

please post your results with your xbench score.

Dude, seriously, my next CPU will be an AMD one for my x86 mac. Why? Becuase Careless showed me that his Dual Core Opteron 165 beat my iBook G4 1.2GHz, which gets 4,800 MegaFlops, and that's native, using the AltiVec unit on the G4 die. His CPU beat mine, and it was under Rosetta, that shows just how incredibly powerful those AMD CPU's are, so consider buying one for you x86 mac in the future too.

its 10.4.3 8F1111g

i modify the plist so that iLife programs would run correctly. check the iLife thread on how to make it run properly.

also.

i would never buy mac hardware. i've been accustomed to my pc, and do my graphic work on my PC comfortably enough for me to avoid mac hardware all together. i would never buy that inferior hardware. (yah, go ahead, debate it... im not listening :P)

running 10.4.3 on my PC is just a treat for me. nothing more. im here showing everyone how inferior mac hardware is compared to true x86.... case in point, my altivec and xbench scores.
