mlmorg
I'm searching for a powered firewire hub. I recently bought this http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16817111714 a usb and firewire hub but quickly found out that, even though it has a dc power source, the firewire port connected to the computer must be bus-powered (the firewire port on the computer has to be 6-pin, not 4-pin which my laptop has) or else other firewire devices connected to the hub do not work...maybe the dc power source is just busted...but it seems to need to have a bus powered source for firewire. So...I'm now looking for a powered firewire hub that can connect to a 4-pin firewire port on my laptop while still being able to power devices that need a powered firewire port (by way of its plug-in-wall power source). Thanks for any suggestions, Matt Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/79874-powered-firewire-hub/ Share on other sites
rtomek
why not just buy a regular hub and use one of these cables? http://www.amazon.com/JasHO97900-Ieee-1394...2046&sr=1-2 However, a lot of hubs come with a 6 pin male to 4 pin male cable so that's only necessary if you get one that doesn't come with it.
