Ok, i did a fresh install with everything iATKOS, and since the grub live cd doesnt work, im using ubuntu 8.04 alpha live cd (which works perfectly)

i boot up gparted and set the flag for the OSX partition, and there is another mysterious partition there, with a boot flag (default)

Your mystery partition is an EFI partition.

Did you follow the darwin bootloader instructions on the iatkos dvd and use efi boot rather that darwin?

i had the same problem but wanted efi, it just wouldnt work for me, so reformated the drive from gparted then used the darwin boot loader and all was fine.

OK just watched the video, i did exactly the same as that robert roy guy, but still got the blinking cursor! maybe the efi version that is on iAtkos isnt compatible with our systems. Try an install using the old darwin bootloader and see if that works.

You formatted with GUID Gparted seems to have issues activating GPT partitions schemes (I could not get it to do it either). Look at my guide here:

If you have questions ask.

The blinking cursor problem seems totally random and despite following the install procedures to the letter it's still something that happens. Last night I re-did my OSX install and it took several installs, installing Windows (to get a different MBR), and then installing the newer iATKOS patched install along with the old darwin bootloader to get it to work.

It's really odd, though I also had problems with 10.4.9 and 10.4.11, so it may just be quirks in the way the bootloaders work.
