Hi..

I am interested in knowing about the 10.4.8 Jas with sse3 and ppf1 or whatever you know the main (i think the most popular) distrobution.

I would really like answers to the following:

1.How do I know I got the right one and not some hacked one that just filters out my bank account numbers? Can someone give me a checksum on the iso, and a way for me to generate the checksum (like a linux command) so we can compare them?

2. How do I know that os x itself doesn't phone home.. I heard that dashboard does! What other parts of the OS do?

3. If it does phone home, what are the implications? They get an ip address?

4. If it does phone home and they get an ip address, how do they know it's not SOMEONE ELSE using osx86 leeching off of my wifi.

5. How can I GUARANTEE that os x won't phone home? What type of firewall will even block (ask first everytime, and ability to set rules.) I want to see a window pop up that says "os x (process) is trying to access the internet" and at that point i would say, ya right buddy nice try apple and block.

6. I own a Mac! It is not technically illegal for me to have a Jas! because all it is is osx (which I have a license for) plus some other code! (Okay, i know it's agaists the eula to install on a "non-apple-labelled" computer, but don't worry i put a sticker on it! j/k :) )

7. Couldn't apple secretly phone home within it's apple applications that access internet like mail, itunes, safari?

To the best of my knowledge 10.4.8 doesn't phone home for anything, unless you ask it to by registering the product.

Since you are installing an operating system here, it is completely independent of any other operating system's you may have on your pc and therefor it is highly unlikely that the Jas DVD is hacked to filter out bank details, But if you really don't trust it, then you can create your own install dvd using the brazilmac patches, a copy of the retail OS X and a mac.

i am aware of little

snitch. I just wanted to make sure that os x wont bypass it.

Also, noone has instructions on how to patch your own legal copy. Even if they did, it probably wouldn't be

as thorough. I would really like some links to a tutorial on how to do this though.

Also, could someone give me a checksum of the most common jas 10.4.8 with all the ppf and sse patches built in?

Also noone wants to comment about the fact that an ip adress really doesnt meen anything? Or does it?

well to be honest, ip addresses are localized depending upon your country so there is someone somewhere else with the same ip. They dont give anything away, they are used for small home networks in the case of DHCP or for websites which use DNS to bring back a page of choice based on the URL. Your not at risk installing it and if you would like a guide for brazilmac patch installing it can be found here Link

You can skip the downloading of the torrent and just create a .dmg image of your install media in Mac OS X . Which shouldn't be a problem as you do have a mac.
