killer moses
I installed uphuck AMD 1.4.9 and now my processor is overheating to the point where the computer shuts down. This happens even in Windows since I've installed. I haven't changed anything in the BIOS and my computer was working fine up until the point where I installed OSX on another drive. Has anyone else experienced this? I've done some searching but didn't really find much. I realize that there's always a chance trying a hackintosh install can screw some things up on your system but frying the processor is one of the dangers?! What's up with that? vbetts
What? Unless Osx86 can eat it's way into your bios, then it's a hardware problem. If you've overclocked, watch your voltages, and memory the most.

Bizzare coincidence then?
vbetts
That's all it can be. I never heard of an OS doing damage to hardware like this, besides overclocking. It may have stressed your fan for your cpu, and basically killed your fan.
killer moses
You're absolutely right - my CPU fan is acting all spasticated and gimpy upon closer inspection. So there's nothing to see here folks, move along. Thanks vbetts
idividebyzero
for a temp solution you might want to take a case fan and replace the cpu fan with it, it doesnt have to fit perfect and will most likely be quieter and cooler than the old fan if you were using a stock cooler
