narunet
Get the latest JaS patch and that should be fine for your system. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/7731-how-can-my-desktop-computer-get-working/#findComment-49081 Share on other sites
A Hamster
will it have a "root device error"? Cause i have experienced that with the Deadmoo dvd image. Thus i gave up. But since i've been hearing that the new version of mac (8f1111) was better/stable/compatiable. So.... will it? Metrogirl
Give the JaS patched iso a go. From the specs in your signature you should at least get it to load and boot up OK. Just read the other threads to get some idea of the problems you might find. Check the MD5s (also detailed in other threads) before burning, whichever burn tool you use, make sure you verify after burning. Use -v for the install boot option so if there's a problem you can come back here and tell us exactly where it happens. And good luck! A Hamster
wooh, thanks for the confidence boost! now... waits for 10.4.3 to finish dl... can take up to tomorrow. [too bad mac can't make universal compatable hardware... (mac makes their own stuff, most of the time, never has 3rd party hardware)] Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/7731-how-can-my-desktop-computer-get-working/#findComment-49091 Share on other sites

thrunner
bumpy, bumpy, i want this to work. O please mighty uber mac hackers! Please do a little search and reading on SIS963 and SIS chipset in general and you will find that this second or third tier chipset maker, while competent and has good performance, is unlikely ever to be supported by OSX. The root device error usually means the HD and or controller can't be recognized. Spend a bit of money and try a compatible mobo and your life will be so much easier with OSX. Good luck.http://www.ocworkbench.com/2002/asus/p4s8x/p4s8xp1.htm SiS963 chipset which is paired with the SiS 648 North Bridge through a 1 GB/s MutIOL channel. This chipset supports 6 ports USB 2.0/1.1, 3 ports of IEEE 1394A, Dual ATA-133, 6 PCI master, onboard SATA. digiplaya2005
Nope. Unless the SIS ATA driver makes itself work with P4S8X, which I'm not sure of yet since I haven't even given it a full try yet.
