murcielago585
I have installed the 8f1099 perfectly on my pc. I've been wanting to update to 8f1111A for a long time. I installed the JaS patch 4.2b on the disk image but it will not work. It gives me the mac screen of death telling me to turn off my pc as soon as i load the disk from the darwin screen. I know my dvd works cause i've installed it perfectly on another pc. My specs are: Pentium D 820, gig of ram, GMA950 graphics Are there known compatibilities issues from this build with my pc specs? or do i need to type in something at the darwin screen? i am out of ideas. help would be greatly appreciated. Metrogirl
Looks like another one to add to the growing list of JaS incompatibilities... Not much I can suggest except taking the raw image and patching it yourself from *only* the Maxxuss patches you actually need for your hardware. That has worked for some people. Technobob
Type -v at the Darwin screen to see where it's hanging and report back Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/7721-please-turn-off-system/#findComment-48449 Share on other sites

Metrogirl
That 'unresolved kernel trap' right at the top in the blurry bit is what a lot of people see with the 4.2b patch. I believe it's an issue between the kernel and your hardware, but there are plenty of folks out there more clever than me, so maybe someone can give you a better clue. Good luck. thrunner
Have you tried swapping DVD drives? Some users have had success: http://forum.osx86project.org/index.php?s=...indpost&p=38772 Apparently OSX install just doesn't like some DVD drives. Metrogirl
Have you tried swapping DVD drives? Some users have had success: Very true ... I've had read problems with my onboard NEC, I've used a Lite-On USB drive to get 10.4.3 to install reliably (done it several times now). Technobob
It is very picky, if I install using my internal DVD drive it takes an hour but if I use my external DVD burner it takes 30 minutes. The external drive has a slower read speed then the internal drive.
