cmaus@mac.com
Hey guys...just wanted to install Leopard on an iMac G5, which has only 256MB memory... Does anyone of you know how to fool the installtions check of Leopard, because it always wants at least 512MB... :-( Thanks
Synaesthesia
Well I can look for a fix for you, but seriously, it's really not going to be pretty if you get it right. Just buy some ram, it's sooo cheap, just for a 256mb, 512 or 1gig stick. It's super easy to upgrade your iMac too, and you won't be sorry.

~pcwiz
Heres how: http://www.macosxhints.com/article.php?sto...071026083746346 You can easily lower down the minimum RAM required but the performance isn't going to be good. EDIT: Look at the note in the article: One major thing worthy of note. Do not try and run the installer on a machine with 256MB or less of RAM, in fact, you probably want at least 384MB RAM. I did try 256MB and found the installer simply would not complete, and this was on a machine whose processor was within the the range specified by Apple. Well there ya go...You NEED more RAM and even though you can bypass the RAM check the installer won't complete.
