2LMan
I am looking to mod my existing tower to fit into one of Apples B-E-A-Utiful cases! Please help me find one for cheap. Any help would be appreciated. Oh, and I can't use eBay, so no links to there. Thanks! 2LMan
my only problem is that i had an ebay account and they said it was fraud so everytime i make a new name, they say its connected to a suspended account. Long story, no time. Thanks though! Rizmaster
That's certainly going to result in one of us sending you a piece of hardware "Oh, eBay won't let me register for fraud related reasons, but it's a long story..." Beyond that, the problem with the G5 case is it only takes a microATX board. The Mac Pro case on the other hand is a lot more forgiving. I believe it can fit a full ATX as it has less going on inside. However Mac Pro cases are almost impossible to find, and run for about 400 bucks. If you don't plan on overclocking, you can get a micro board and you'll probably be fine. One of the Gigabytes with 1333 FSB, but personally I overclock so micro boards are junk to me. aqua-mac
Rizmaster, You have that round the wrong way, G5 accepts a full size ATX and mac pro will only take a Micro ATX because having 2 DVD drives + hard drives above limits the space. Also if you go with a Gigabyte GA-G33M-DSR2 Micro ATX you get a full set of overclocking controls, identical to P35 DQ6. It has ICH9-R, and sound and lan can easily be got working in Leopard. A few of us have used these in Mac Pro cases successfully. Scrumpymacs sometimes get these cases in so you could try them. Here are the specs. GA-G33M-DS2R Intel G33 + ICH9R Chipset Features: -Supports Intel Core 2 multi-core and upcoming 45nm processors -Dual Channel DDR2 800 for outstanding system performance -Integrated Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 3100 (Intel GMA 3100) -Integrated SATA 3Gb/s with RAID function -Features high speed Gigabit Ethernet and IEEE1394 -Integrated ALC889A 8-Channel High Definition audio -Ultra durable2 motherboard with top quality highly efficient components Ultra Cooling - Low RDS(on) MOSFET Design Low RDS(on) MOSFETs specially designed to produce lower switching resistance for faster electric current charging and discharging. Low Power Loss - Ferrite Core Choke Design Ferrite core chokes comprised of a compound of iron oxide and other metal elements whose properties hold energy much longer than common iron core at high frequency Longer Life - All-Solid Capacitor Design Solid capacitors contain a solid organic polymer, while electrolytic capacitors use a common liquid electrolyte, hence, the terms solid capacitor versus electrolytic capacitors. Intel Core 2 multi-core and upcoming 45nm processors GA-G33M-DS2R supports Intel latest high performance CPU delivers the most energy-efficient performance available today.
