J0D4
Hey guys, I've read much things about installing Leopard or Tiger on normal PCs or Notebooks. But my problem is, that in all the forums you've got a few supergeeks, who are very good, but can't tell you how to do the job. So maybe you can help me (I allready tried the search but didn't find anything for me) I want to install Leopard on my Fujitsu Siemens Computers Notebook. Here are my technical specs: AMILO Xa1526 running Vista by default CPU: AMD Turion 64X2 Dual-Core Mobile Tech TL-60 (but its still a 32-bit system) graphics: nVidia GeForce Go 7600 256 MB chipset: nVidia C51D + MCP51 memory: 2 SO-DIMM Slots; 2 GB Dual DDR2 HDD: SATA HDD (5400 /min) 160 GB optical drive: 8x DVD-DoubleLayer Wireless: IEEE 802.11b/g Bluetooth 2.0 Audio: Azalia Codec (7.1 SPDIF) Power: Li-Ion, 6 cells, 11.1 V / 4,400 mAh dynamic-charge and ACPI-2.0 110-240 V (AC), 50-60 Hz 1x IEEE 1394a 3x USB 2.0 1x S-Video out 1x DVI-I 1x Ethernet LAN 4-in-1 CardReader SD/ MS/ MMC/ MSPRO 1x ExpressCard Slot (34/55mm) 1x CIR 1x LineIn 1x MicIn 1x AudioOut with SPDIF Now my problem: I wanted to intall Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard. So now I have the patched DVD with me. But when I want to install it, it can't format my HDD. I read somthing like read-only mode while it was loading the installer. What do I have to do, to give it the rights to write on my HDD? Is it a missing SATA Driver? What do I have to do to install Leopard on my machine? btw: Tiger can't even find my harddrive at all. Thanks a lot. I hope you can help me! (PS: Excuse my English...) Megamixman
Plenty of guides out there. If you can't communicate your problem effectively to us, how can you expect the 'supergeeks' to tell you how to do anything. Starting off by insulting people is not the way to go. Read the Guides, Search about your problem. Only when that fails do you post asking for help, and not by insulting others. Boenne
guess what the op has done? Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/76489-if-theres-someone-who-can-tell/#findComment-540213 Share on other sites
J0D4
I'm sorry but I'm following the discussion, I'm reading the guides, but noone can tell me how to install it. For example the famous leopard flat image. Some asks how to install it. And you're getting 5 diffrent ways how you can do it, but the op doesn't understand anything, 'cause of the 'geek-spoken-here'-syndrome. No one can tell him if he should install it from XP or Vista, if he needs a DVD or not, if he can install it without an external Drive or if he can use USB Drive or Firewire Drive to book. The answer are all incomplete. Its understandable for the geek who has posted and the geeks who read it but not for the one, who was asking the question... What image do i have to download? Do I have to patch the image? If yes, which patch do I need and do I have to patch it from XP, Vista or even Tiger? How can I add Kernal Extentions to a .dmg or .img file if they are necessary for the installation? ... Thank you guys, who can understand me. ~pcwiz
Your hardware looks very good for OS X and I suggest you try installing. The Leopard flat image is one of the easiest ways to install and its the best way for you to install since your computer has an AMD processor. You don't have to do any patching with the flat image, just download the Leopard flat image and follow the instructions here to install: http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=70346 If you need any further help I'd be glad to help Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/76489-if-theres-someone-who-can-tell/#findComment-540227 Share on other sites
ucan
Whining and complaining is not the way to go here. Maybe you're expecting too much, all machines are not osx86 compatible and of course there's the question "ARE YOU OSX86 COMPATIBLE?". You won't find a magical wand here. You'll need to do a lot of reading before you even begin to understand the terminology or any of the setup procedures. Since you've got an AMD machine, search for aDVD for AMD. Read through the wiki, search for AMD topics, BUT READ, READ, READ Start here http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=73524 Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/76489-if-theres-someone-who-can-tell/#findComment-540243 Share on other sites

~pcwiz
Try Leopard flat (easiest) and if it fails, then try the Zephyroth AMD DVD that ucan mentioned. In the thread it looks like people are having trouble with that DVD Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/76489-if-theres-someone-who-can-tell/#findComment-540332 Share on other sites
