Mac Pwns
Hey guys, As a mac fanatic and osx86 supporter, I wanted to get your opinion on a mac OSX86 file server! This server would contain ------------------------------------------------------ -Mac OS X 10.4.3 DVD Image | -Mac OS X 10.4.1 Marklar DeadMoo image | -All Maxxuss Patches | - Mac OSX86 compatible applications. | ------------------------------------------------------- Now, if many approve of this, I will set it up. It will be an HTTP archive and I will have two different servers on my network serving this. Main will be IP:1400 and one will be IP:1600. So incase one goes down, the rest can still download!! Anyway, tell me what you think! I DO NOT CONDONE PIRACY, THERE WILL BE A LONG LONG DISCLAIMER ON THE ARCHIVE YOU MUST AGREE TO BEFORE USE! Thanks, Joe Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/7624-mac-osx86-file-server/ Share on other sites
Mr. Bond
I know it may seem like your intentions are good, but this is still warez, plain and simple. If I were you, I wouldn't set something like this up, and for that matter posting any links/IP's. Besides, if people aren't smart enough to Google for OSX themselves, I'm sure they aren't capable of attempting to install it. Mac Pwns
I understand, but what I am saying is, There will be many disclaimers on the site that keep me away from legal troubles while providing a valuable resource to many who are interested. And google does not condone warez either but with proper research you can find it. Technobob
I would not do that my self You say you don't condone piracy and yet you will be hosting pirated software. Regardless of your disclaimer you can still be sued. Leave it up to torrent site to spread the images and software. Mac Pwns
So let's see even if I seed torrents there is still potential for getting sued, now all I mean, is for me to be able to spread this software UNDER LOCK AND KEY. meaning password protected if need be. and I wouldn't be promoting warez if the users agreed to what disclaimers I am putting up which include the IPA, Patriot, and various others. sigxcpu
I think you can leave a seeding torrent up. Isn't it better? Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/7624-mac-osx86-file-server/#findComment-47734 Share on other sites
Mr. Bond
I'm not trying to discourage you there, but it is really just needlessly putting yourself in the crosshairs of Apple. Then again, it would be great for people to be able to access all the OSX x86 stuff they need in one central spot. Sorry if I came across as rude in my earlier post! Mac Pwns
Thanks bond! I mean, your theory is all too odd, because it should be in your disclaimer that no one from Apple, the government or police authority should be allowed to access the site, so if that were in mine, I could have it so tight that only a few are let in. But, I know you don't mean to discourage but when I was talking to Mashugly he thought that would be okay. so I dont know. Sorry to repeatedly post, but i haven't seen a lot of apple cracking down on hx0rs nd warez lately.. narunet
I have offshore Malasyan (Probably killed the spelling of that) hosting and have some space. I could let you use some space for the 10.4.3 image only. Olivier
It is not a very good idea.... Actually, we are some geeks interested by technology, so this is wy we spend so much time to run something that anyone, now can buy without f***ing problems. But to put those kind of files on the web is clearly piracy, and it is not on geek focus. In my humble opinion...
