quixos Posted January 24, 2006 Share Posted January 24, 2006 i've used trueimage to back up my C: drive, and restore it many times. you are only limited by the size of the separate partition you back it up to. if you really don't care about programs and docs, i'd suggest you do a clean install of windows, disable your paging file and back it up with the trueimage bootable cd to another drive. should be a file under 600 megs with high compression. if at this time you only have one drive, using something like partition magic or acronis partition manager, create a primary drive at the back of your hd of about 2 gigs, just for storing a C: drive backup. a little extra room is good. you can even burn that to a cd if you are extra paranoid about screwing up your partitions. good idea ulyanov77. The second HD method is safer. This way you can image both your WinXP and Mac partitions in one with Acronis; it is also much faster than using DVDRs.
