QMax
Hello InsanelyMac peoples, this is my first post on this forum after a long time spent reading your posts. I'm here asking your help installing Jas (Mac OS X 10.4.8 [JaS AMD-Intel-SSE2-SSE3 with PPF1 & PPF2].iso) under VMWare Workstation 6, on a Asus laptop L5C (Intel PIV/2.8Ghz, SSE2 support). I followed step by step PCWiz's tutorial, but installation ends everytime in a OSX freeze. Script starts, then I'm able to select installation language, I can see OSX installer starting but all the times installation ends with this image: with the colored rotating "ombrella" . Sometimes I can access to Utilities (10% of the times), but I cannot see any available disk to continue installation. I tested the same procedure on another desktop PC, with same results. I was sure I can't run Tiger/VMWare on my hardware, but yesterday I tried using an OSX Tiger VMWare image (tiger-x86) and it works fine, so I suppose it's a problem configuring VMWare. I tried installing using Other/Other, Other/FreeBSD without success, and tried as WindowsNT, but in this configuration I'm not able to use IDE hard drive, only SCSI available.... Actually I'm running without problems Kubuntu and Ubuntu 7.10 using VMware, so I think virtual machine is fine... Any help ? ~pcwiz
You have to use an IDE drive. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/75488-problems-installing-jas-1048-on-vmware/#findComment-534566 Share on other sites
QMax
Thanks PCWiz for your reply. Using your guide I used IDE, SCSI appear only when I try using WindowsNT. In both attempts, install stopped at the exact same point, looking for an HDD to use...
